Indians are great at going places.<\/p>\n

Amid the big trucks of India’s roadways, you’ll find scooters and motorcycles and cars and vans and pickups and buses and everything in between, all taking people from one place to another. Some people are in seats, others merely seated, others yet standing. Some are on the roof.<\/p>\n

Equally, Indians are great at staying still. When they’re not doing anything, I’ve seen them simply sit and wait:<\/p>\n

My own life feels like more of a jumble, never completely static nor appropriately dynamic, but rather an uncomfortable mix. So I wonder whether there isn’t a lesson here, whether it makes sense first to ask — both literally and metaphorically — “is there anywhere I have to go?” If there is, it’s time to get going, no matter how. And if not, it’s time to enjoy wherever I am.<\/p>\n
